The Leadership Academy's goal is to raise the level of civic engagement
and corss-sector collaboration in MetroWest. We do this by:
EMPOWERING
The Leadership Academy empowers participating fellows with the knowledge
and confidence to be effective community leaders. The program encourages
citizens from every walk of life to rise to the challenge of community leadership.
ENLIGHTENING
Each year the Academy brings together 25-30 of the region’s established and
emerging leaders from business, municipal government, education, nonprofits,
and community organizations to offer them an enlightened perspective of the
institutions, challenges and opportunities in MetroWest.
EXPLORING
During 10 monthly program days, the curriculum explores regional issues such
as government, economy, education, public safety, diversity, arts and culture,
environment, health, housing, and transportation.
ENGAGING
Leadership Academy fellows engage in site visits and discussions with local and
state leaders and experts, gain insight into current issues and experience
diverse schools of thought while learning more about personal leadership
styles and teamwork.
EMERGING
Graduates emerge knowing how to get themselves or their organizations
involved in community volunteering and civic affairs, and become a part of our
Alumni Association – a unique resource network of 500 “uncommon leaders
serving the common good.”

" Since my year at the Leadership
Academy in 1989, I have been
involved with many wonderful
organizations in MetroWest. Each
one of these opportunities can be
traced back to my Leadership
Academy experience. "
