| Peter Rinaudo ('08), formerly with TD Bank is now a Vice President at Webster Bank in Providence, RI. John Strickland ('00), Director of Corporate Adminstration at Bose, was honored at The United Way of Tri-County 2010 awards breakfast, with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his leadership and volunteerism, including six years on the United Way's board of directors, Michelle Murdock ('09) is now producing HCAM News, a half hour TV show of local Hopkinton news broadcast on the town's cable access channel. In addition to airing every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6PM on Channel 30 (Verizon) and Channel 8 (Comcast), the news show can be seen via streaming video at www.hcam.tv. Karin Semizoglou ('09) is now the manager of the new TD Bank store in Wayland and she is the recipient of he 2010 "She's the One to Watch" award presented at the MW Chamber of Commerce Women's Initiative annual dinner. Brian McEvoy ('06) has a new position with TD Bank, VP - Sales Metrics, Analysis & Decision Support/ Retail Sales Strategy Group in Maine. Brian has moved to Portland. Diane Packer ('04) has been elected the Town Clerk in Natick. Lt. Rick Flannery ('06) has been appointed by the Hopkinton Board of Selectmen to replace retiring Police Chief Tom Irvin ('01). Rick holds a master's degree in criminal justice from Westfield State College. He started as a dispatcher 30 years ago and worked his way up the ranks before being named the department's second-in-command in 2007. Tom leaves his post as Chief after 31 years with the Department. Maria Babb ('03) a Vice President with Middlesex Savings Bank was awarded the 2009 Athena Award. A national award, given regionally by the MW Chamber of Commerce,it honors women leaders who achieve excellence in their profession, inspire women to achieve their full potential, and give back to the community in a meaningful way. Maria joins several other Academy alumna who are Athena winners: Lauren Stiller-Rikleen ('89), Barbara Gardner ('90), Helen Lemoine ('93), and Kathleen Freeman ('97), Marlene Aron ('02). Joe April (07) is now the Executive Director of Development for Bay Path College. The main campus is in Longmeadow, with additional campuses in Sturbridge/Charlton and Burlington. Bethany Mercer ('07) and her husband are the proud parents of not one, not two, but THREE babies. The triplets -- two girls and a boy -- are doing well. Wow! Diane Ring ('07) is now working at Employment Options in Marlborough where she is Director of the Furnishing Options program. Chief Scott Rohmer ('07) and Lt. David Beaudin ('08) from the Ashland Police Dept. have received awards for their commitment to public safety and to the town of Ashland. The award from the state House of Representatives, recognized their “Exemplary Commitment to Public Safety." Scott and David also received a citation from the state Senate, lauding their “Courageous Dedication to Protecting and Serving the Town of Ashland," presented at the opening ceremonies of the Citizens Police Academy. Liana Moore ('06) recently received the Worcester Business Journal's prestigious "Forty Under 40" award. Liana is a partner at Bowditch & Dewey. Tom Irvin ('01) announced that in January he will retire as Hopkinton's Police Chief after 31 years with the Department, the last ten as Chief. Moving on to the next stage of his life, Tom said he is ready for a little something different and to "figure out what I want to do when I grow up." Janet Drummey ('01) publisher of the Town Planner Calendar, has been elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Metrowest YMCA. Sarah Duckett ('89) Editor and Publisher of the Hopkinton Independent is proud to announce that the paper is celebrating its tenth year and going strong. Michelle Murdock, a reporter at the paper, is a member of the current class and will officially become an alumna on June 18th. Bob Cargill ('92) now the creative director at Nowspeed Marketing, recently received the prestigious 2009 NEDMA Direct Marketer of the Year Award. Bob inspired and directs the blog, Internet Marketing Strategies and Secrets. Dennis Mannix ('92) has retired as Chief of Police in Natick after more than 20 years of leading the department. Katrina Moore ('96) is now the Director of The Africana Center at Tufts University. Lew Colten ('97) was elected to the Board of Directors of the Framingham History Center. Gary Daugherty (’99) has been named Chief of the Framingham Fire Dept. after 11 years as Chief in Hopkinton. Lynn Valcourt (’01) was re-elected to a third term on the Hudson School Committee. Lynn is a management analyst at Natick Labs. Dave Bodah ('01) is Senior Director of Development & Marketing at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence. Dave was married in 2007 and he and his wife have a one year old son. Francesca Cerutti ’02 recently graduated from Framingham State College. Jay Weiss ('02) & Beth Weiss ('02) have a new home on a lake in Tennessee where they plan to retire sometime in the not to distant future! Tom Greeley ('02) has successfully guided Framingham's Green Up Committee through the 11th annual "Green Up Day," cleaning up tons of trash thanks to the efforts of thousands of volunteers. Tom's dream is to have Massachusetts enact a state-wide clean-up day. A bill modeled after Framigham's Green Up Day is in the State Legislature and awaiting a hearing. Joe Laydon (’02) formerly the Town Planner for Wayland for 9 years is now the Town Planner in Stoughton. Joel Loitherstein ('02) will participate in his 15th Pan Mass Challenge in August. Joel has raised an astounding $99,000 so far to benefit the Jimmy Fund. Margaret Sleeper (’02) formerly with MetroWest Growth Management Committee is now the Administrator of Natick Center Associates. Mary Liscombe ('02) was named the Director of the McAuliffe Challenger Center. Ray Griffin ’03 retired as Director of the McAuliffe Challenger Center. Maria Babb ('03) with Middlesex Savings Bank has been recognized as one of the "Top 10 in banking" in the June issue of Women's Business Boston. Andy Limeri (’04) was re-elected to a second term on the Framingham School Committee.. Ken Clark ('07) has been named the new Chief of the Hopkinton Fire Department. Ken joined the Department as a 15- year-old, working as an on-call firefighter until he was old enough to get a full-time position. He served as the deputy chief for past several years. Joshua Lee Smith ('07) and his wife are first-time parents to a son born in March. Josh is an attorney at Bowditch & Dewey. Heather Jack ('07) and Heather Rogers ('09) are Managing Partners for Massachusetts Nonprofit Support Services, providing practical, hands on support, including fundraising, accounting and technology services to nonprofit agencies. Margarita Saez ('08) formerly at Framingham State College, is Manager of Operations for Academic Technology, and Online Learning at Bentley University. Meghan O’Neil Condon (’08) and her husband are new parents to a son born in April. Meghan is still with Bowditch and Dewey in the Framingham office. Susan Tordella ('08) has started a Toastmasters club for men at Shirley Minimum Security Prison in addition to the club she started for women at MCI-Framingham. The rate of re-offense for Toastmasters is about 7% compared with 50% for the general prison population. Inmates interested in Toastmasters are also interested in improving themselves. Volunteers can visit for two sessions without taking the volunteer training of the Department of Corrections. Toastmasters experience is a plus. Contact Susan.Tordella@gmail.com for more information.
