A key to effective leadership is building relationships. After Leadership fellows
graduate from the Academy, they find that the connections made during their Academy
experiences are stronger and infinitely larger as the become part of the elite kinship of
alumni leading the way at every level in their communities and workplaces.
The Alumni Association fosters alumni connections to each other, to opportunities at
Leadership MetroWest, and to invaluable resources, especially for cross-sector
collaboration and professional development.
One way we do this is through our in-person gatherings -- valuable opportunities for
relationship building and continuing education around leadership development and
current community issues. The Alumni Association Committee organizes
- the annual fall Alumni Networking Breakfast with a featured speaker
- Leadership affinity groups—gatherings of alumni who share a commonality such
as Academy class year, home town, or workplace
- Annual Community Leadership Forum—our signature event that attracts
hundreds of alumni and other community and business leaders to hear speakers
such as Governor Deval Patrick and to engage in roundtable discussions.
In 2009-10, the Association is complementing in-person gatherings by building social
networks. We recognize that our greatest resource—for knowledge, networking,
kinship, and expertise—is each other.
